In step 4, we cover the entire background of this footprints in snow painting. Start by the darker layer of grey first and then add a lot of white to create the snow ground for the footprints to appear! Mix the white with light grey to create some shadows and show the undulating land structure.

We start painting this winter creek acrylic painting by creating the first 3 layers of the landscape, starting with the sky first. Layer 1: Start with white + teal blue to color the sky. Blend it random.
Layer 2: Add the left mountain with white & black mix.. add some textures with white while coloring.
Layer 3: Add the right mountain with blue & white first, and then blend in some purple. Again add more white to create some mountain textures.

To paint this almost monochrome winter lake acrylic painting, I used mostly white and black to create the misty background. With a lil darker shade of grey, create the snow land rugged edge. And then in the same brush, pick up a lil bit of teal to continue further down in the canvas to paint the lake and cover the entire canvas.

We will paint the background mountains in this winter cabin reflection painting, in two layers. First create the darker one in the front with blue and black, and then added a lot of white to the same brush, to create the lighter one on the back. Keep less paint in your brush and no water at all, because we want to have dry brushstrokes to create the mountain textures.

For winter night landscape paintings, I like to use a touch of green or viridian hue to bring in the darkness effect. So for day paintings, just pure blue. And for night paintings, blue+green. That’s my secret formula 😉
